Nominations are open through September 21, 2021 for the following leadership positions. ELECTIONS WILL TAKE PLACE THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 4, 2021.

LCC-MAHE Executive Officer Team

These are 2-year positions except during negotiation years, when elections shall be held after contract ratification. All officers must be active full-time or part-time members of the local at the time of election and must be completing at least their second year or fourth semester of employment at LCC (LCC-MAHE Constitution, Article IV, Section 1.) Officers’ terms will begin after the election because of the new contract ratification. The Executive team is a very busy group with time commitments ranging from 2 hours per week to 35+ hours per week. Many of those hours spent in meetings and working committees. Each position is unique in its responsibilities and workload. If you are considering a nomination for these positions and need more information, please contact the MAHE office at 483-1891.

MEA-RA Delegate/Alternate

(Michigan Education Association). These positions are generally held for 2 years. The actual numbers of delegates and alternates are determined each year by the number of current members in the local. Delegates are charged with attending the MEA’s Annual Spring representative assembly, held in Lansing for 2 days in Aril. Should a delegate be unable to attend the RA, and alternate will be seated in their place. Activities at RA’s include but are not limited to caucus committee and special delegation meeting attendance during the RA and voting at the general assembly. LCC-MAHE currently has 4 seats for delegates and 4 seats for alternates available. Nominations are being accepted for:

· MEA-RA Delegate
· MEA-RA Alternate

NEA-RA Delegate/Alternate

(National Education Association). The positions are generally held for 2 years. The actual number of delegates and alternates are determined each year by the number of current members in the local. Delegates are charged with attending the NEA’s annual representative assembly, held each year over the July 4th holiday in various locations throughout the United States. NEA has begun having Virtual RA’s and is currently looking to possibly having a Hybrid option. The RA and its activities will typically last 3-4 days. The local pays all expenses for travel. Should a delegate be unable to attend the RA, and alternate will be seated in their place. Activities at RA’s include but are not limited to caucus, committee and special delegation meeting attendance during the RA and attendance and voting at the general assembly. LCC-MAHE currently has 4 delegate and alternate seats awarded. Nominations are being accepted for:

MEA Region 8G Coordinating Council Representatives

The Coordinating council is comprised of the three MEA local associations at LCC (MAHE, PTCTU, and ESP). Each local sends representatives to attend meetings of the council, typically held on campus 2-3 times each semester. The role of the council is to supervise the MEA Uniserv, conduct annual POAC drives, conduct training for its members, and function to unify its affiliated locals, sharing information, ideas and support. MAHE’s representatives then report their activity back to the senate. These positions are generally held for 2 years. MAHE has 8 representatives to Region 8G Coordinating Council. Nominations are being accepted for

MEA Region 8 Representatives

This regional council of the MEA is the policy making body for all the local associations within the region and sends its selected delegates to the MEA RA and NEA RA (Region 8’s members include K-12 and higher education locals in Ingham, Eaton, Clinton, Shiawassee and Livingston County.) Dinner/business meetings are held monthly at the MEA Headquarters in East Lansing. MAHE Representatives to this council are charged with attending meetings to represent the interests of LCC-MAHE and higher education and reporting its activity and policies back to the senate. These positions are generally held for 2 years. MAHE has 10 seats available, and nominations are being accepted for all seats. Nominations are being accepted for:

Michigan MAHE Representatives

This is the Michigan Association of Higher Education at the state level. LCC is a local MAHE affiliate of this organization. Representatives attend semi-monthly meetings at various locations throughout the state representing the interests exclusive to higher education. Representatives for LCC-MAHE may sit on the Board of Directors on the Executive Committee or as an officer of MAHE. Nominations are sought to fill 3 seats on this board. Nominations are being accepted for:

Greater Lansing Labor Council Representative

LCC-MAHE joined this organization in 2007. It consists of many labor locals from the Lansing area, but LCC-MAHE was the first higher education local to seek membership. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month in Lansing. Representatives to this council are charged with attending meetings representing the interests of higher education and labor activities with reporting made back to the senate. We are seeking nominations for seven seats on this council. Nominations are being accepted for
